A museum of art and history is The Museum of Belize. This museum, which is situated in Belize City, was once constructed as a jail between the years 1854 and 1857, while Belize was still a British colony. In 2002, it underwent a transformation and became The Museum of Belize. Three divisions make up the museum: History, Exhibits, and Activities. The Belize Museum works to give accessible history and educational opportunities about Belize’s past and culture.
